Methodology and limitations
Every statistic on this page links to the page we opened to confirm it, between 10 and 17 October 2026. We used primary sources first. These include Lok Sabha answers, the Union Budget, CBIC and GST Council notifications, PIB, the Veterinary Council of India, UN Comtrade, insurers, filings and price pages.
Market size figures come from consultancy reports and are labelled with the publisher. Company statements and press-reported figures are labelled as such, with the outlet named. Euromonitor counts are cited through GlobalPETS because the original is paywalled.
Trade data comes from the UN Comtrade public API with India as reporter, HS code 230910, calendar years 2019 to 2025. On 17 October 2026 we checked it against the Commerce Ministry's TradeStat. Its calendar 2025 totals match: USD 138.14 million of imports and USD 78.84 million of exports.
We rejected any figure whose number, unit, year or population did not match the page. We also rejected pages that failed to load and blogs that only repeated another source. Prices are listed starting rates and MRPs on the date checked. The research log records a proof quote for each figure.
Compiled on 16 October 2026 by the dogeats.in data desk. We review the page monthly and replace figures when a newer filing, answer or price list appears.
