Why Bhatt Ki Churkani Is Caution for Dogs
Bhatt Ki Churkani is an Uttarakhand curry made from black soybeans (bhatt), tempered with ghee, jakhiya (wild mustard) seeds and chilli.
While cooked black soybeans on their own would be a reasonable plant protein, this dish's distinctive tempering uses jakhiya seeds (a strongly flavoured wild mustard relative) fried in ghee along with dried red chilli, the combination is intense even by Indian-tempering standards and isn't suited to a dog's digestion.
