Why Falooda Is Caution for Dogs

Falooda is a layered Indian dessert drink of vermicelli, basil seeds, rose syrup, milk and often ice cream.

Each layer adds sugar (rose syrup, sweetened milk) or dairy (milk, ice cream), and the combination is far richer than anything a dog's digestive system is used to, the basil seeds (sabja) themselves are not toxic, but they're a minor part of a mostly sugar-and-dairy drink.

Frequently Asked Questions About Falooda for Dogs

It's best to skip it, between the rose syrup sugar, sweetened milk, and ice cream, there's little in falooda that's appropriate for a dog even as an occasional taste.
In small amounts, plain soaked basil seeds are not considered toxic, but they're rarely served alone and offer no real benefit for a dog.
It's better as an occasional treat than a daily habit, falooda works best a few times a week rather than every day.
The same caution applies to a German Shepherd as any other dog, keep falooda occasional and plain, if offered at all.
