Khar is unsuitable for dogs, its defining ingredient is an alkaline ash-water filtrate, an unusual preparation not suited to a dog's digestive system, on top of the oil and spices used to cook it.
Why Khar (Assamese) Is Caution for Dogs
Khar (Assamese) is a distinctive Assamese dish made with an alkaline filtrate from sun-dried banana peel ash, cooked with raw papaya or other vegetables.
The alkaline nature of the khar filtrate itself is atypical for any diet and isn't something a dog's digestive system is adapted to handle regularly, and the dish is further cooked with oil, mustard seeds and chilli, there's no part of this preparation that translates to safe dog feeding.
